Month 2 || Half Marathon Training
A lot has changed- My husband has been doing the runs with me. It's been super fun to go to the track together and have him cheer me on as I lap him- hehe j/k. He hadn't ran in a very long time. I'm so proud to see how far he has come in the last few weeks working out with me.
He is my biggest fan and I'm his. Very thankful. 😏
So- let's play catch up. The past few weeks I have worked my butt off. I believe the last time I blogged I was only up to 3 miles in a workout. Well ladies and gentleman- I have conquered 4, 5, and 6 miles and I could not be happier! I am lucky to know a coworker who is a runner. He set me up with a Garmin Watch and HR monitor- soooo fun to use! Apparently my HR is higher so I have been trying to keep my runs at a HR of 160. This is working out great!! The runs are getting significantly easier and I'm starting to enjoy them much more.
Let's talk about my runs...
4 mile run:
51 min and 54 secs
12:59/mile
... not bad
5 mile run:
57 min and 19 secs
11:27/mile
... we are on to something here....
1 hour and 6 min
11:00/mile
... woo hooo!!!!!
Improving every weekend!
Like I said- It's getting so much easier!!!! I'm very happy with what I've accomplished so far. I am constantly repeating positive affirmation's to myself when I feel doubt about running/workout. If you think negative thoughts.. well unfortunately you are going to result in a negative experience. I don't give up and you shouldn't either. Just keep RUNNING!!
Tomorrow (Thurs) I will be doing a TEMPO run- I will find out more details tomorrow regarding what this entails..super pumped. Saturday I will hit the big SEVEN mile run. Wish me luck.
