Week 1 || Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.

Week 1: Day 4: Thursday

Sunny AZ in March
Hey all! Day 4 went well- I think? I had Wednesday off from training. This was a crappy day for me. I really did not want to run, whatsoever. Instead of being negative nancy I put on those running shoes and headed for the door. I decided to run outside. For whatever reason I chose to run the perimeter of my apartment complex.

Weather:
70 degrees and sunny- it was a beautiful day. I am so grateful to live in Arizona.
Distance:
3 miles
Duration:
44 minutes

This was more of a walk/run. It was somewhat windy- the wind speed was at 5.8 mph to be exact. Umm.... this was faster than I was running. There were also so many yard workers mowing grass and had their blower majiggy things out. Let's just say... it was hard to BREATH. I've come to realize it's easy to think of all the excuses in the world to NOT do something. In any aspect of life. This particular day I was not going to let that happen. I needed this run. My average speed was 3.9 mph and my fastest was 6.7 mph...not sure what was going on. The struggle is real. But enough with numbers and negativity!!!! I made it through day 4 and was PROUD. This was actually a minute faster than my first day and I'm already seeing improvement.

HALLELUJAH!

The end to Week 1: The struggle

As you guys know I had Friday off and was scheduled to run 3 miles on Saturday. Well.. I didn't. I did not have it in me. It wasn't that I couldn't do it. I definitely had a mental/emotional block (for reasons at this time don't matter) and I chose that I would take the day off. So I did nothing ALL day instead. I don't regret my decision only because I know now that my body needed to recuperate. Great news though.. I finished my last training day of the week on Sunday!!! Woohoooo! Sunday was actually really tough- which I assume is because I took off 2 days prior. I ended up going to my apartment complex gym- which I LOVE because apparently nobody at my apartment complex works out (or just not when I do). It was a later run- around 7pm. Turned on my tunes and hit the treadmill.

Mile 1:
Speed: 5/5.5 mph
Time: 12:53

Mile 2:
Speed: walk/run
Time: 19.67

This is consistent with how I've been doing this week... grrr. I keep run/walking my 2nd mile. I'm hoping to be over that soon. I realized during the middle of this mile I hardly drank a drop of water that day. Or any liquids at all!!! Eeeeks.. I have a history of not hydrating myself. Something I'm working on.

Mile 3:
Speed: 5/5.5 mph
Time: 12:38

Total Duration: 44.48 ... the exact same time as my first day of training. Funny.

I'm very happy with week 1 (even missing a day) and I know as I continue on to WEEK 2 I will start seeing bigger strides.

Week 1 Totals:
9 miles
2 hours 13 min

I hope everyone is enjoying their week and pushing through whatever struggle or mountain that stands in their way! Until next time...
