The Icing on The Cake || Mexico Day 2

{My husband's story}

Ephesians 2:19-21
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,…

Today was the day the house walls, roof and stucco went up on our family’s home. Up and eating by 7:00 AM with a nice little morning worship service with the others at camp then off to the work site.
Ashley and I gained a little bit of home building experience. We spoke with the family whom we were working with for the first time. This was a great opportunity to practice our Spanish. It was a husband, wife, 15 year old and 13 year old girl and a 9 year old boy. The home we built was 24 feet by 12 feet. We nailed nails and put up chicken wire to lay stucco. Stuccoing was very therapeutic. We ended the job site at 5:00 PM.

We arrive at camp, shower and head to fiesta night for dinner. The families whom home we helped with had dinner with us and shared their stories. It was delightful. The former IL Chavo (Ashley “Chavez”) and I danced some salsa on the dance floor. We all prayed together. We were very consado by the end of the day! Thank you God for this experience and hope.

In Jesus name. Amen.

Hey ya'all! Ashley here. Happy Sunday! Today is a beautiful day. And so was day 2 in Mexico. After completing the stucco and staring at this home we had just built I was in awe. There in front of us, after all of our hard work, was a lovely home that this family would start a new beginning, a new journey, and I pray they will grow closer to each other and Jesus in their new home! The home was small but in my eyes perfect. I had told Justin I couldn't believe my complaints about how "small" our apartment is. I will never complain about the size of our living space again. God blessed us so much this day. He reminded me of how blessed we are. How thankful I should be everyday. I was reminded that everyone is fighting a battle, big or small, we should be thankful and we should help in anyway we are called. Thankful for Jesus!

Blessings!

Mark 12:31
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
