Closer to Haiti

Mark 16:15

And He said to them, "Go into All the world and preach the Gospel to all the nation."

Happy Sunday!

Just an update on where we are at with our fundraising to Haiti! We will need to be submitting 50% of our trip cost by Oct. 1st. That cost does not include our tickets. Someone had asked me at work if this mission was a for sure "go." I told her yes. I said its hard to explain but I just know we will embark on this adventure to Haiti. I recently realized why I was so confident in my answer, yes. It is because I believe. I believe God's word and trust in him. The organization will not give us the green light to purchase our tickets until they start seeing those 50 percent deposits submitted. They trip can only be a "go" if there are a minimum of 20 missionaries. Please pray God gives all volunteers the finances and heart. Which leads me to tell you about our first fundraiser! My husband and I attend a neighborhood bible study every Thursday. The family whom host's these groups offered to host a yard sale/fundraiser at their home Sept. 26th for our cause! Thank you Jesus! I spent some time today working on a poster board for the event with our trip information on it. I am so completely not crafty or artistic but.... I am happy with the way it turned out. It may look like a kindergarten crafted it but it's PERFECT. I was so excited and happy while putting it together, thinking about the little children in Haiti we will get to meet soon! I love my husband so much, he makes me giggle. In between football, usually during the commercials, he would come over and ask if I needed any help and continue to tell me how awesome it looked and that he loves me. He's so sweet and makes me feel confident in what we are doing. Now I feel I must share a peek of my poster board since my husband made me feel so proud. You may giggle just as I did....

We want to thank everyone who has already put forth their love, prayers, letters, inspiration and loving gifts towards us! We appreciate it so much. We are staircases closer to getting to Haiti!

I also want to talk to you about Compassion. If you've been following us you may know about this amazing organization that pours their love and heart into children all over the world. We were blessed with an opportunity to serve at an upcoming event for Compassion. On October 10th, Matthew West will be touring in Phoenix at Grand Canyon University. If you have not seen him in concert you SHOULD! He is absolutely amazing and his music shouts inspiration in all different colors. Our job at this event will be to hand out packets to the awesome audience in the stadium. Each packet has a child's story. It shares some information about the child, their country, strengths, needs, and what WE can do to bring hope to the child and their family. When we heard about this opportunity we did not hesitate. We love Matthew West and we love Compassion and most of all the children! I hope if you have never been to one of his concert's this prompts you to go! You won't regret it. My first concert was extremely moving. I was touched by the Holy Spirit in many ways. At the end of the concert I was in tears. Good tears and probably some bad. Tears I had been holding onto for many years. My boyfriend (now husband), the music, his words, and Jesus helped me that night to throw all the bad away and look towards the light. Francesca Battistelli will be performing as well and I know you all love her! I will leave a link for you to get your tickets!

I also recommend that you check out compassion. You will be amazed  how full God can fill your heart when helping these children and families. Most importantly a child has the opportunity to grow, learn, know God's love, and have his/her everyday needs provided for.

Many Blessings!
