Forgiveness

Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Hey ya'all! August is already over! Time is flying... just as I said it would. 4 months to go until our hopeful departure to Haiti. We have sent out maybe half of our fundraising letters. Now we are currently working on our 2nd half. It truly takes commitment and focus. Focus and I have our differences from time to time. BUT, we are getting there! I'm looking forward to the cool weather, anyone else? I want to do a bake sale and possibly a yard sale for our trip. It seems like every day gets busier and busier. Justin, my husband, started coaching football through a program called STARS at our church. He is the assistant coach for 5th and 6th grade. Very proud of the man he is and has become. It's a few less nights together but it gives us both time to rejuvenate. I like my time alone so I can type, read, and have my alone time with The Lord. It's all for a reason and we know our time spent here or there will hopefully bring His glory and continue to strengthen our marriage.

This past weekend my husband and I were so blessed to be able to attend a marriage conference called "Rejoice! A Night To Celebrate Your Marriage" It just so happened to be our 3 month anniversary of being married. There was live music, a comedian, and a speaker. The main speaker was David Shepardson, You may know him from Word By Mail Ministries or Extreme Faith Productions. He spoke truth about life through God's word, The Bible. One of his main points was on forgiveness. I know some of you may be suffering from the forgiveness disease. So I beg you... Let go. Forgive. And do so quickly.

Ephesians 4:31-32 "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

I love this verse! God is telling us we MUST forgive as he forgave us. Were we deserving of God's forgiveness... no way! Whoever you hold this hard heart against I pray you can find the peace and love God puts in your heart to forgive them. They may not deserve it but deep down in your heart you are exactly like Christ. I know a lot about forgiveness... It is very freeing to be forgiven and to forgive. It can break chains from your heart. So go out there and get your forgive on!!!!
David Shepardson really made a point that in marriage we need to put our spouse before ourselves. Sacrifice. And don't stop sacrificing for your spouse. Put his/her needs first. He reminded us that Sacrifice is the life of a Christian. Do nothing in selfishness and love your neighbor as He loves you. I know I know... your laughing. This isn't easy. I know. The world has taught us and showed us to live completely different then what I'm describing. What helps me live these words out is staying in His word. Living it, being intentional, and remembering that His will never fail or change. Hold your spouse tight and love them everyday like it's your last. Always look to the light and keep your faith strong. Pray together. I believe that can help strengthen any marriage!

David described unforgivness as placing a brick up each time we feel hurt, offended, or unforgiving, They start stacking up and slowly our hearts start to harden. We start to lose our physical, emotional, and spiritual connection with our spouse. Eventually you have so many bricks surrounding your heart it takes TIME to start on-stacking them to free your love again. Maybe its not towards your spouse but a family member or friend. Don't start stacking that wall of bricks. Sometimes we let the smallest of small things get to us. Remember it could be much worse and we can not let those little things slip past us to avoid those bricks being built. I also know it may be much worse then petty small issues for some of you. All I can say is give it to the Lord and let go of the past. He will heal your heart. You just have to ask.

This is exciting! Extreme Faith productions has a lot of upcoming events in the near future. One of them that I will be attending is the Aspire Women's Conference Friday, November 13th. So ladies, I'll leave you a link here for more information and ticket info. It will be an amazing night out with amazing and inspirational music and speakers. Singer songwriter Mia Koehne will be performing. She has a beautiful testimony of forgiveness in her own life. We were blessed to be able to here her story at the marriage conference. You are in for an absolutely inspirational evening.
